Targeted correction of compression artifacts
Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales CNES - 10/17/2016
Description
Compression artifacts masking process by restoring the instrumental noise, taking into account a noise model and the type of compressor. It improves the visual rendering of photo or video. Compatible with existing processes and supports.
Benefits
Adaptability & modularity - Development of new compressors, codecs, photo / video plugins. - Software layer can be integrated into existing products. Productivity - Image quality gain for a same volume of storage. - Improved quality compared to standard decompression (without restored) - Negligible CPU impact.
Innovations
Targeted correction of compression artifacts - Restore the natural instrumental noise altered by compression. - Hiding structured compression artifacts. - Targeted and effective correction of compression artifacts on too compressed areas. Inclusion of different noise models - Parametrable or programmable noise models.
